If you’re looking for some at home entertainment in order to more frugally ride out this recession, the PlayStation 2 just became a truly thrifty option. The older model PlayStation has just been given its first price cut since 2002! And it’s a big one, at twenty five percent.

This price cut moves Sony’s PS2 unit to under one hundred dollars, to ninety nine dollars. Losing the triple figure mental block should help Sony to move more units, and give the PlayStation 2 a strong second wind. Sony plans to keep releasing games for the console until 2010, with approximately 1900 units in total to be available for the model.
