The newest smartphone from Palm, dubbed The Pre, was initially revealed during the CES (arguably the biggest tech conference of the year) a month ago in Vegas. The capable new gadget was shown to include a slide-out keyboard, an 8GB memory capacity as well as a 3.1 inch touch-screen.

The mobile operates on a newly created operating system, named Web OS which gives users the capability to connect directly to web data through cloud computing. Even though it is not due out until an unspecified date sometime this year, it was still named as the number one hot gadget by on the yearly “Hot Gadgets” list which is produced by Gadget Magazine T3.

Surprisingly, there were no products produced by Apple on this year’s top ten, not even the ever popular iPhone. That is likely because the Hot Gadget list is largely comprised of unreleased, or very newly released gadgets.

Rumors of an Apple Netbook release is buzzing all over the internet today, with sources from the Dow Jones Newswire apparently confirming the production of said netbook.

It’s claimed that before the end of the year Apple plans to release a netbook, perhaps even just in time for the Christmas rush (Apple is pretty smart about these things, so such a release time frame wouldn’t surprise me in the least). It’s also speculated that the netbook will include a touchscreen, with a display area ranging between nine and ten inches.

Of course, Apple hasn’t confirmed or denied the production at this point, but I for one will be keeping my fingers crossed on the netbook’s validity.
