January 25th, 2010Affordable Business Cards

As an aspiring entrepreneur, I’ve recently been looking into having some business cards made up in order to promote myself and my business. The first thing I did was call a bunch of local companies in order to inquire about their services and find out the rates they charge to design and produce personalized business cards. Unfortunately, the prices were quite shocking and I just didn’t want to spend the kind of money they were asking for. That lead me to the internet, where I thought that I could no doubt find a better deal.

The good news is that I was right, and found an abundance of cheap business cards available on the web. Not only are most of the business cards I found very affordable, but they are also very professional in appearance. In fact, I would be proud to hand them out to my potential customers and current client base. The prices on business cards online are super low, and that’s good because it means I can put more money into other parts of growing my business. Also, some websites offer nearly free business cards out there, so no matter what your budget is you’ll be able to find some nice business cards with just a little internet searching.

January 25th, 2010Cleaning House!

If there is one thing I can’t stand, it’s certainly a dirty house. I’m kind of a huge neat freak (just ask my family or look at my very clean house, and you’ll see), so I really hate dirt. Despite my dislike of dirt, I have quite a few pets as I love animals. Unfortunately, as anyone who has had dogs or cats knows, they sure do like to track dirt and mud in the house. For that reason I am thinking I might buy the powerful Dyson DC28 Airmuscle, as it is specifically designed to be able to pick up heavy amounts of animal fur and hair. That suits me and my family perfect, so we just might have to pick it up.

It’s good that such a vacuum exists, as we’ve burned through quite a few that just couldn’t handle the amount of dog hair it was required to pick up, not to mention my daughters long hairs that she seems to be constantly loosing. I could go on, I mean we also have a couple of cats, and not the little short haired darlings you see, but two exceptionally large, long haired furry guys. Of course I love them dearly, but I certainly don’t love the hairy mess they leave behind on the couch!

January 24th, 2010A Good Night’s Sleep

I am the kind of person that truly needs a full, comfortable good night’s sleep, and I’m plain old ineffective and grouchy if I don’t get it. Part of having a great sleep is peace and quiet, and not having any aches or pains. Another part is having a very comfortable mattress that is kind on the back and joints, and won’t leave a person waking up with any discomfort. It took me quite awhile before I realized how important a good mattress is, as I had thought my back pain was due to bad posture, or how I sit at the computer.

However, after purchasing a new mattress (at the insistence of my boyfriend), I noticed a remarkable improvement in my back, and haven’t looked back since. So if you’re suffering from back pain or any other kind of muscle pain, you may be surprised to learn that your mattress is a possible suspect! It’s good that there are many kinds of beds out there, including adjustable beds, and so no doubt there is one that will work best for your body!

January 24th, 2010Promote Your Business

There are some business practices that are simply timeless, such as handing out business cards to potential customers and business partners. Whether you are participating in marketing conferences and trade shows, or simply want a business card to hand out to the potential customers you meet every day, it’s a good idea to have quality business cards to represent yourself with. Personally, I like to go with a bright color or a graphic that really stands out as its a way to imprint your company in a customers mind. Also, having an uplifting message or clever slogan printed on the card is a sure fire way to make yourself and your company memorable.

Thankfully, you don’t have to spend a fortune these days to get high quality, stylish business cards, as there are a variety of online companies that offer great deals on business cards. In fact there are even some very nice free business cards, or practically free business cards which look very professional. Of course, the low prices on these cards is very appealing as well!

January 20th, 2010Tips On Choosing A Realtor

If you’re looking to sell your house and property or purchase a new home, then you’ll want to take the time to find a great realtor that will put your needs first. You want to ensure that your Realtor is a good listener, so that he or she understands what you are truly looking for in a new home. This is important as it will help so that your time is not wasted looking at homes you are not interested in. You should also be sure to clearly communicate the things you are looking for in a home, as the Realtor is not a mind reader and if you don’t tell him what you want, he will probably end up guessing and wasting a lot of your time with homes you don’t like.

Basically, finding a great Realtor ensures that the end result of buying a home is the ideal one for you. So if you idea is to live in one of the luxury condos for sale on Smith Lake, then ensure that you clearly let your Realtor know that, along with any specifications that are important to you. Also, clearly state your budget, as you don’t want to waste time looking at properties you can’t afford. This will help you to find your dream home in an efficient manner, and leave you satisfied with the end result!

January 15th, 2010Thoughts On Gun Safety

It’s certainly no secret that many Americans own one or more guns, and generally keep them in their homes for safety reasons. I mean, there is no argument that should your home be invaded, that a gun is a powerful way to scare out a burglar. Of course, many people also keep hunting and other sporting guns in the home, for obvious purposes. It’s important however to remember that we need to keep our guns stored safety, so that our own children, or visiting children cannot access them. Unfortunately there has been many cases of children finding and then playing with guns, with some very sad and fatal outcomes.

For those reasons, it’s very important that those who choose to own guns and keep them in the home to make use of gun safes. Using a gun safe is a good way to keep your gun locked up and secure, so that children cannot accidentally harm themselves with the weapon. I think it’s an important thing for all gun owners to consider, as we all want to keep our children safe.

I have been somewhat disappointed in my income level this year, and think that one of the best ways to improve my income long term is to go back to school. While I have an undergrad degree and it helped me to obtain my current job, it would be very helpful to have an advanced degree like an MBA in order to climb the job ladder. Thankfully, I can probably take part time classes so I won’t have to give up my current position. Or, if I do go full time it will be worth it as I will probably make a long more money in the long term.

The most scary thing about going back to school is applying to programs, and having to write an MBA application essay. The essay can be a daunting task because it can make the difference between being rejected or accepted into a program, so I have to be sure that I get the right message across.

December 22nd, 2009Teaching My Kids About Money

When I was growing up money was not something that was ever talked about much, however I did over hear my parents arguing about it from time to time. Unfortunately, I didn’t learn the best money habits from my folks and didn’t create good money habits until recently. After years of debt and living pay check to pay check I finally feel secure financially and like I’ve learned good habits, and so I want to pass those habits on to my own children.

I plan to start teaching them about money soon, and they will start to get a weekly allowance of which they will need to save some of. I will teach them about certificate of deposits and how they can help to grow their money over time, and we will also go to the bank and set up accounts for them. I’ll also teach them about credit cards and how they can cause debt if not used correctly. Hopefully these lessons will be helpful when they are older and truly need good money habits.

December 17th, 2009Thinking Of Bed Time

A year or so ago I invested in a very high quality bed, and know for certain that it is the most comfortable one I’ve ever owned. I actually now really look forward to going to sleep at night, as I know it will be restful and super cozy. In fact, when I’m at the office and see people who are perpetually grumpy, I wonder if their problem is  a lack of quality sleep, as I sure know that I’ve been a happier person since getting my new bed and all the rest that has come with it.

It’s also important to take the time to find proper childrens beds for your kids, as even little kids can suffer from back and neck aches should they not have a proper bed and mattress. Some people think they can cheap out when it comes to kids beds but I sure wouldn’t as their little growing bodies need proper support. Your kids can usually let you know if they’re getting a proper night’s rest, but  it’s still a good idea to simply ask them when they wake up how well they slept. That way you can make sure that they have a bed that suits them just fine.

December 11th, 2009Looking To Expand My Horizons

Over the last few years or so I have started to feel more and more that my brain is sort of turning to mush. Well, maybe that’s not a pretty way to put it but as I am not learning as many new things anymore (which is natural as I am out of college now), I feel that I am taking a step back intellectually. This is also likely amplified because my job is quite routine and doesn’t allow for many educational opportunities.

For these reasons, I have taken it upon myself to expand my horizons and continue my education out of the classroom. I plan to do this by travelling to new cities and historical sites, such as Washington DC. I have heard good things about some of the available educational tours DC, and would love to enjoy a bus tour of the area while a knowledgeable operator explains the importance of various landmarks. I’m sure that such a tour would be very intellectually as well as visually stimulating, and help to satisfy my craving to learn new things. If any of you have taken such a tour, I would love to hear about your experience, so feel free to leave a comment or shoot me an email.
