If you’re in Japan and want to get your hands on an iPhone for cheap, it’s about to get very easy with Mobile Carrier SoftBank’s “iPhone for Everybody” promotion. In fact, users who sign up for a two year contract, will be able to get their very own 8 G iPhone on the house. It’s quite a good deal, as previous to this promotion, an iPhone in the country of Japan would set consumers back over two hundred dollars.

Softbank’s reasoning may be that the iPhone has for the most part failed to take off in Japan, as it lacks some of the citizen’s favorite features, such as a video camera, and the ability to send videos. Also, the Japanese appear to be somewhat loyal to brands produced in their own country.

In addition to the free 8 G iPhone that is available through SoftBank, the company will cut the price of the iPhone’s 16 G model by more than half.

Mars, the maker of the Skittles, launched a revised homepage at Skittles.com that strongly embraces social media. Instead of displaying the generic looking website that describes information about  the product or videos and games associated with the product, Skittles.com features user-created by consumers mostly sourced from other websites. Posted on the site last week was the Skittles article from Wikipedia and posts from Twitter. The Mars company stated this move was designed to better connect with its core teenage audience, which spends plenty of time using social media.

It seems like every few weeks there is a new rumor going on about Sony preparing to drop prices on their PlayStation 3 console. I honestly don’t know anymore if these rumors are drummed up by kids who want to get a console and a rock bottom price, or by analysts withing the gaming industry who may have inside sources at Sony.

Regardless, another Sony PlayStation price reduction rumor has hit the mill this week, and it seems many are taking it seriously, perhaps due to the fact that this rumor just won’t seem to go away. Various sources from throughout the blogosphere are commenting that they expect to see Sony drop their PS3 price by one hundred dollars this august. So, if you’ve been planning a purchase of the console, you may want to hold off until then!

The important news that many Apple fans have been awaiting out of the giant tech company has at long last been mentioned at the WWDC meeting which is presently occurring in San Fransisco. Oh and for those out of the loop, what is this glorious news? Why an update on the much anticipated next Gen iPhone!

It was no doubt quite the scene at the WWDC today as Apple took to the stage and showed of a new and improved iPhone, which they are calling the iPhone 3GS. Oh, S equals speed by the way. Also of note is that the new iPhone will include a video camera as well as improved battery life.

And when can we expect to get OUR hands on the new device? Well, word from the conference is that it’s going to be hitting store shelves relatively soon on June 19th.

The newest smartphone from Palm, dubbed The Pre, was initially revealed during the CES (arguably the biggest tech conference of the year) a month ago in Vegas. The capable new gadget was shown to include a slide-out keyboard, an 8GB memory capacity as well as a 3.1 inch touch-screen.

The mobile operates on a newly created operating system, named Web OS which gives users the capability to connect directly to web data through cloud computing. Even though it is not due out until an unspecified date sometime this year, it was still named as the number one hot gadget by on the yearly “Hot Gadgets” list which is produced by Gadget Magazine T3.

Surprisingly, there were no products produced by Apple on this year’s top ten, not even the ever popular iPhone. That is likely because the Hot Gadget list is largely comprised of unreleased, or very newly released gadgets.

Scientists have now shown that it could be conceivable to “read” inside the mind of a person by looking at activity produced by the brain. With the use of an fMRI blood flow scanner, British researchers stated they is was possible to find out where volunteer participants were positioned in a virtual reality testing area. The researchers say the possibility of “intrusive” reading of the mind is still far in the future. Instead, the Journal Cell Biology article stated that the research  will help memory disorders therapies, for such diseases as Alzheimer’s, through the use of hippocampal investigation to see how the brain assimilates memories.

This research will begin the process for investigating how thinking, even visualization of the future or past memories, are based across brain cells. This may lead to the use of  fMRI for examination of all thinking activity, a risky prospect at best. At this time, the research is only produced with research participants and scientist Demis Hassabis predicted forensic applications would start appearing  no earlier than 10 years from now.
